Candice Anusewicz, DO
Dr. Anusewicz was part of Trident’s inaugural graduating class and served as Chief Resident. She accepted a position as program faculty and full-time emergency medicine provider at Trident Medical Center and is excited to transition into her new role and continue working with residents.

John David Baker, DO
Dr. Baker moved from the Northeast to the beautiful Lowcountry and was part of the inaugural class at Trident and served as Chief Resident. He enjoys intracoastal fishing and hosting family and friends. He accepted a position as an ED Attending and program faculty in the Summer of 2024.

Adam Barouh, MD
Dr. Barouh attended Drexel Medical School and completed residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. He is interested in resident education and training, treating children’s head trauma and sports injuries. Outside work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, fishing, gardening, and playing sports.

David Crook, MD
Dr. Crook was part of Trident’s first graduating class and served as Chief Resident. Upon graduation he accepted a position as a nocturnist and program faculty member. His academic passions include Cardiology and challenging EKGs.

Christopher Corbit, MD, FACEP, FAMIA
Dr. Corbit completed EM residency at Cleveland Clinic Akron General and was Chief Resident and House Staff President. He trained in Medical Informatics at Oregon Health & Science University and is board certified in both emergency medicine and clinical informatics. He has extensive administrative experience, serving as Medical Director and Chief Medical Informatics Officer. He is currently the Facility Medical Director for Summerville Medical Center.

Eric Friedman, MD
Dr. Friedman received his medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine in 2013 and completed residency in emergency medicine at the University of Maryland/Shock Trauma program in 2020. He then went on to complete his sports medicine fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. While at Duke, he served as one of the team doctors for all Duke University sports. He has lectured locally and nationally and now is the Director of Sports Medicine for the residency and runs a Sports Medicine elective.

Geoffrey Gray, MD, MBA
After attending Tufts then residency at Boston Medical Center, Dr. Gray and his wife walked Sullivan’s Island’s beaches and decided to move to Charleston. They have two young daughters and he enjoys golfing, boating with family, and his chocolate lab and has been known to hatch various bird species from eggs.

William Stirling Harper, MD, FACEP
Dr. Harper received his medical degree from LSU Health Shreveport and completed residency in emergency medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was pleased to accept a job at Trident after finishing residency and has enjoyed working here since. Since the TMC EM residency began, Dr. Harper has been the Director of Simulation and coordinates monthly case-based didactics. His main interest is hanging out with his wife, Brooke, two children and their dog Lucy. He also enjoys teaching, running, exploring the Charleston real estate market and talking about anything related to music.

Scott Hayes, MD, FACEP
Dr. Hayes completed his emergency medicine residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Baton Rouge where he served as Chief Resident. He continued as faculty at LSU until returning to Charleston in 2009, when he joined the ED Team at Trident. He currently serves as the Facility Medical Director for Emergency Services at Trident Medical Center as well as Chief of Staff for the health system.

Kate Hewett, MD, FAAP
Dr. Hewett attended the University of Georgia and received her MD from the Medical College of Georgia in 2009. After completing residency in pediatrics at MCG in 2012, she moved to Charleston for PEM fellowship at MUSC. Upon graduation in 2015, she became faculty in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Summerville Medical Center. Her academic interests include asthma management, patient education, and simulation. In her free time, Kate enjoys gardening, fishing, and boating.

Walter Hodges, MD
Dr. Hodges graduated from the Medical University of Georgia and completed his emergency medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina where he served as Chief Resident. Following graduation, he joined the Trident team where he has practiced ever since. Clinical interests include critical care resuscitation as well as orthopedic injuries. Outside of work he enjoys boating, traveling, college football, and spending time in the Lowcountry with family, friends, and his dog Grey.

Brian Kendall, MD, FACEP
Dr. Kendall trained in Emergency Medicine at UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX where he also served as Chief Resident. Since then he has worked in multiple settings in Michigan, Massachusetts, and Texas, most recently moving from Lubbock, TX where he served as the Clerkship Director and Assistant Medical Director at TTUHSC. He is passionate about mentoring and teaching, using his personal experience and research to simplify the application process for medical students and help them understand the basics of working as an Emergency Medicine physician.

L. Katherine Moore, MD, FACEP
Dr. Moore received her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and completed her first two years of EM residency at UIC and her final year at MUSC. She is the Director of Wellbeing at Trident and has a special interest in physician wellness and political advocacy. She is the current President of the South Carolina College of Emergency Physicians.

Graeme Ross, MD, MsC, FRCPC
Dr. Ross received his medical degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He then completed EM residency at Kingston General Hospital, fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at the Medical University of South Carolina, and a Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Kingston General Hospital. His interests include ultrasound, education, critical care medicine, and medical resuscitation.

Neal Shelley, MD
Dr. Shelley is a South Carolina native and Clemson grad who attended MUSC before training at Georgetown’s emergency medicine residency, where he served as Chief Resident. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, traveling, and keeping up with his three kids. He is passionate about being present for people during their critical and worst moments as an emergency provider.
